Only students who have completed all credit, distribution and major requirements may participate in Commencement. Those who complete course or major requirements at a later date are invited to participate in the Commencement following their actual completion.

Seniors who fail to complete coursework by the last day of the semester, even though they may complete the work a few days late and participate in commencement, risk not being recognized for their accomplishments at Commencement.

  • Only those students for whom all grades are submitted by the designated time can appear in the commencement program.
  • Only those students for whom the results of departmental honors have been reported to the Office of the Registrar by the designated time can appear in the commencement program.
  • Only those students for whom all grades are submitted by the designated time can appear in the commencement program as having graduated with collegiate honors.
  • Only those students for whom all grades are submitted by the designated time can be considered for Phi Beta Kappa.

These limitations are not meant to be punitive; they are simply a result of the schedule that must be followed in order to have a printed commencement program available by the morning of Commencement.
