Kenyon takes its responsibilities toward compliance with Title IX seriously. The civil rights/Title IX coordinator works with other staff to promote a campus free of sexual harassment and violence.
All faculty and staff at Kenyon, with the exception of those who hold confidentiality (such as health care providers), must report incidents of sexual harassment and/or violence to the civil rights/Title IX coordinator. Guidance from the Department of Education's Office of Civil Rights has made this very clear: "If a school knows or reasonably should know about student-on-student harassment that creates a hostile environment, Title IX requires the school to take immediate action to eliminate the harassment, prevent its recurrence, and address its effects." If a Kenyon faculty or staff member knows or should know of harassment, then the law considers the College to know.
