Room Capacity
Maximum occupancy limits in residential rooms and common spaces are established to protect resident safety, particularly with regard to fire codes, emergency evacuation and access to emergency services. All Kenyon College rooms are designated as singles or doubles based on the number of assigned occupants.
In partnership with the Mount Vernon Fire Department (and formerly the College Township Fire Department), the following capacity ranges have been established for residential spaces:
Residence Halls
(Caples, McBride, Mather, Gund, Lewis, Norton, Hanna, Leonard, Old Kenyon, Watson, Manning)
-
Single Room: 3–4 people
-
Double Room: 5–9 people
Residential Apartments & Houses
(New Apartments, NCAs, Bexley, Village Apts, Market, Tafts, Aclands, Morgan Apts, Thomas Hall, Winkler Hall)
-
Common Area Capacity: 17–22 people (varies by unit)
-
Capacity is based solely on the designated common/living area. Bedrooms and other rooms do not increase this limit.
