Understanding Your Benefits
Benefits are described on this website in a general manner. For a detailed description, please refer to Summary Plan Documents, also available under Download Plan Descriptions. In case of a conflict or omission, the provisions of the Summary Plan Documents will govern. While Kenyon intends to continue each of the benefit plans currently offered, we reserve the right to terminate or amend any plan, at any time.
Employees: A benefits eligible employee is defined as an employee who works a minimum of 1,000 hours annually on a continuing basis in a regular, budgeted position. See the current year's benefit rates.
Dependents: Eligible dependents include legal spouse, same or opposite sex domestic partner (Domestic Partner Information & Certification Form); dependent children (as defined by the IRS) until the end of the month in which they reach age 26. You may add an eligible dependent to your medical or dental plan within 30 days of a qualifying event. You must notify Human Resources and complete an enrollment/change form.
Plan Year and Open Enrollment
Kenyon's plan year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30 of each year. Open enrollment will run from mid-April to mid-June each year, for a July 1 benefit start date.
Changes Outside the Enrollment Period
You can make a change to your enrollment if you have a qualifying event, such as marriage/divorce or loss of coverage. You cannot make changes to your enrollment if it's outside of a qualifying event. Contact HR for more information.
