The College Calendar
The academic calendar runs on a similar schedule each year, though the actual dates will vary. Here, you will find a snapshot of the fall and spring semesters.
Fall Semester
August: New students take part in Orientation; residences open; classes begin.
September: Student class schedules are finalized; alumni volunteers meet on campus; Homecoming Weekend takes place, including the Athletic Hall of Fame ceremony.
October: Students enjoy a long weekend break; Kenyon welcomes visitors, including parent volunteers, for Family Weekend; the Board of Trustees meets; the campus celebrates Founders' Day; students sign the Matriculation Book.
November: Thanksgiving break begins with student residences closed the week.
December: Classes resume for two weeks followed by reading days and exams; the semester ends; student residences close for the winter break.
Spring Semester
January: Student residences open; classes begin; Kenyon holds a Day of Dialogue in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
February: Class schedules are finalized, the Board of Trustees meets; Kenyon hosts Winter Weekend for alumni volunteer groups; spring break begins and residences close for two weeks.
March: Student residences open and classes resume; the Parents Advisory Council meets.
April: Kenyon celebrates Honors Day; the Board of Trustees meets.
May: Classes end followed by reading days and examinations; residences close for non-seniors as the semester ends and for seniors after Commencement; Kenyon welcomes alumni for Reunion Weekend.
Summer
Kenyon is a lively place in the summer! Several hundred students remain on campus for academic projects and related research, and the campus hosts a variety of workshops and external events including athletics camps, conferences and weddings.
