Below you will find information and links to scholarships available for students studying off campus.

Many of the program providers offer scholarships to students accepted to their programs. It is more likely that you will secure a scholarship if you apply early. Scholarships are offered by IES, Arcadia, AMIDEAST, CIEE, DIS, IES, IFSA-Butler, SACI, SFS, and SIT, among others. Check with the program provider for details about their scholarship process. 

The Andrew D. Pochter Memorial International Studies Fund (summer internship or an immersion undergraduate study experience in an Islamic nation in the Middle East, including North Africa)

The Andrew D. Pochter Memorial International Studies Fund was established to provide support to deserving students, regardless of financial need, whose qualifications and academic pursuits are consistent with the three-fold purpose of the fund:

To promote global understanding through the recipient’s participation in a summer internship or in an immersion undergraduate study experience in an Islamic nation in the Middle East, including North Africa; To advance the recipient’s interdisciplinary concentration or major studies in a field related to international affairs and the Middle East; and To advance the recipient’s proficiency in the foreign language of an Islamic country.

Applications for support from the Pochter Memorial International Studies Fund for summer 2023, fall 2023 or spring 2024 must be submitted to the Center for Global Engagement (cge@kenyon.edu) by 5:00 pm EST on Monday, April 10, 2023 and consist of the following:

A clear, concise and compelling statement of intent (1-2 pages). This statement should describe the program, project, or experience for which Fund support is being sought, and note how receipt of the award would address one or more of the stated aims of the Fund.  One brief letter of support from a faculty member addressing the applicant’s academic pursuits and qualifications for Fund support as well as the merits of the program, project or experience for which Fund support is being sought.

NSEP Boren Awards for International Study (for geographic areas, languages, and fields of study that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad)

Gilman Undergraduate Study Abroad Scholarships (for Pell Grant recipients) and Gilman-McCain Scholarship (for children of active-duty military with federal financial aid)

Fund for Education Abroad (LGBTQ, athletes, underrepresented groups, etc.)

Diversity Abroad Overseas Ambassadors and Summer Scholarship

Critical Language Scholarship (intensive summer language study)

Bridging Scholarships for Study Abroad in Japan

DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Undergraduate Scholarship
