The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion oversees a number of programs and services, which support the recruitment, retention, support, and success of our diverse campus community. Below, you can explore some of the signature programs and services that the office coordinates.

Fostering an Inclusive Environment for Students

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion offers programs and services to foster an environment in which all students can thrive. These programs and services include, but are not limited to the selective Kenyon Educational Enrichment Program (KEEP); the mentoring program, Recognizing Each Other’s Ability to Conquer the Hill (REACH); student support funds; and much more!

A Cultural Support System

In addition to these programs and services, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provides a cultural support system for students across the campus community. Three student-supervised program houses — the Crozier Center for Women, the Snowden Multicultural Center and Unity House — are essential components of this support system.

The Snowden Multicultural Center’s programs educate the Kenyon community about the value of a diverse cultural environment. The Crozier Center for Women’s programs focus upon gender-based equity in addition to inclusive safer sex information. And finally, Unity House’s programs help to foster a more inclusive campus for the LGBTQ+ community.

Educational Programming

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion also coordinates programming to educate the campus community about various cultures, identities and social justice movements. Major programs include Latinx Heritage Month from mid-September to mid-October, LGBTQ+ History Month in October, Indigenous Heritage Month in November, Black History Month in February, Women’s History Month in March, and Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in April.

In addition to regularly partnering with faculty, student organizations, other departments, and community partners, the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion works closely with their three program houses for the aforementioned programs in addition to other days and weeks of significance, including some of the following: National Coming Out Day; Ace Week; Trans Day of Remembrance/Resilience; World AIDS Day; Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Aro Week; LGBTQ+ Health Awareness Week; Trans Day of Visibility; and more!

A Resource for All

While the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is certainly a student-facing office, this space exists as a resource for the entire campus community. As such, the office regularly serves as a resource for students, faculty, staff and community members, who are interested in fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus and beyond.
