Kenyon continues the tradition, practiced since the College’s first Commencement ceremony, of conferring degrees in Latin. An English translation of the Latin diploma, certified by Professor of Classics Adam Serfass, is as follows:

The Board of Trustees
of Kenyon College

with the consent of the Academic Senate
in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio

has awarded to

the degree of
Bachelor of Arts

and has conferred on [this individual] all the rights and privileges that appertain to this degree. In testimony thereof, we, the President and Secretary of the Academic Senate, on the [day] of May in the year of our Lord [year], have signed our names below to this document, which is validated by the seal of the College.
