Not making it to class because of a minor illness.

Consult:

  • Health Center regarding treatment of your illness (if applicable/necessary)
  • Course syllabi regarding absence policies/penalties; Course instructors regarding making up work (if allowed)

Not making it to class because of an illness that renders you incapacitated and confined to your room or the hospital.

Consult:

  • Health Center regarding treatment of your illness and confirmation that you are confined to your room or the hospital
  • Dean of Students regarding the need for a note to go out to faculty regarding your absences
  • Course instructors regarding making up work

Not making it to class because of extenuating circumstances (e.g., close family death).

Consult:

Having more than 2 final assessments (e.g., examinations, papers, projects, presentations) set for the same time or more than 3 final assessments for the same day.

Consult:

  • Dean of Academic Advising regarding which assessment to move to an earlier or later date
  • Course instructors regarding which assessment to move

Requesting a finals adjustment to a different day/time before the end of the semester due to extenuating circumstances, such as incapacitating illness and close family death.

Consult:

  • Dean of Academic Advising regarding whether or not a finals adjustment would be approved
  • Course instructors, if approved, regarding when final work is due

Requesting an incomplete for work to be due after the end of the semester (4:30 p.m. on the last day of finals week) due to extenuating circumstances, such as incapacitating illness and close family death.
