Apartment and Suite Housing (ASH) is the application-based process for students interested in living in apartments or suites on campus during their sophomore, junior, or senior year. ASH occurs prior to the general housing selection process and allows students to apply as a group for apartment- or suite-style living.
Overview
-
Form Your Group
Decide who you want to live with and make sure your group size matches the occupancy (e.g., 8 members for 8-person housing). Gather each member’s first name, student ID and Kenyon email.
-
Apply
One group member submits the application. The application will ask you to list group members, select and rank communities and unit types, and assign bedrooms for each option selected.
-
Outcome
After applications are reviewed, your group will receive an email indicating whether you received an offer for that round.
-
Confirm Your Offer
To accept the offer, each group member must click the individualized link in their email and complete the confirmation form within 24 hours.
Key Terms

Before You Apply: Is Your Group Eligible?
Review the questions below for each member of your group.
-
Is anyone listed in another group for the same application round?
-
Is anyone planning to study abroad in fall 2026 or for the entire academic year?
-
Is anyone not enrolled for the upcoming academic year?
-
Has anyone accepted a pre-placement assignment?
-
Has anyone accepted an ASH offer in a previous round?
If the answer to any of these questions is “yes,” your group is not eligible to apply.

Application Review
After the application closes, Residential Life will review submissions and determine offers based on class standing as confirmed by the Office of the Registrar (not on credits earned).
- Rising senior: 4 point value
- Rising junior: 3 point value
- Rising sophomore: 2 point value
Step 4: Confirm Offer
If your group receives an offer, each group member must click the individualized link in their email and complete the confirmation form within 24 hours.
Strong communication among group members is necessary to ensure all forms are submitted by the deadline. If any member does not submit their form by the deadline, the offer will be rescinded and your group will no longer be eligible for that round.
Please note: All offers are non-negotiable. The community, unit type and bedroom assignments listed in an offer reflect the information submitted in a group’s application. Room change requests may be submitted after the two-week room freeze ends in September 2026.
Other Outcomes
If your group does not receive an offer in a particular round, you may rearrange your group and apply again in a later round.
If your group does not receive an offer in any round, you will participate in the General Housing Selection process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Group members may not be changed after an application has been submitted and an offer has been made.
No, units are grouped and assigned based on location and occupancy.
You can find your class standing by contacting the Registrar’s Office.
If you do not receive an offer of housing through the complete ASH process, you will go through General Housing Selection.
In the event of a tie for points, groups will be selected via random number generator.
If an apartment or suite is not assigned in ASH then it will then be offered in the General Housing Selection on Residence.
Preplacement is any housing placement made prior to ASH such as SASS accommodations, Specialty Housing, Community Advisors or Substance-Free Housing.
The ASH process is still in its infancy and being adjusted every year to better serve students, as such, we do not have enough consistent data to provide relevant historical data at this time.
Bedroom assignments reflect the information submitted in the group’s application and are considered final. Room change requests may be submitted after the two-week room freeze ends in September 2026.
