Kenyon's parking policy is a zero-tolerance policy. Register and understand where your permit allows you to park, and you will avoid fines for violations.

Fines incurred are the responsibility of the registrant or owner of the vehicle.

Student Vehicle Registration Fees

  • Student vehicle registration: $300 annually
  • Visitor vehicle registration: No charge
    Students are not visitors and ineligible for visitor parking passes; the student host is liable for any violations and fines incurred by the visitor.
  • Temporary parking permit: No charge
    For students with a registered vehicle but have a temporary vehicle: the student must provide valid reason and dates that temporary vehicle will be on campus.
    For students without a registered vehicle: maximum of three (3) days and only issued twice per semester per student.

Offenses and Penalties

Unregistered: Failure to Register for Current Year; Unregistered Vehicle Found on Campus; Expired Permit (standard or temporary). Nonrefundable; cannot be appealed. 1st violation: $250
2nd violation: $300
3rd violation: $350
4th violation: $400 
Potential Booting/Towing in all cases. Automatically forwarded to Student Rights & Responsibilities.
Fire Lane: Fire Lane Restriction.

1st through 4th violation: $100
5th violation and above: $200 + referral to Student Rights & Responsibilities and vehicle suspended for rest of academic year.
Potential Towing in all cases.

Handicapped: Violation of Handicapped Space. 1st through 4th violation: $100
5th violation and above: $200 + referral to Student Rights & Responsibilities and vehicle suspended for rest of academic year.
Potential Towing in all cases..
Restricted Parking: Parking in Unauthorized Lot/Space (including extended EV charging space parking); Parking on Grass Without Authorization; Failure to Display Properly (expired permit or not showing current permit); Parking in Visitor Lot/Space; Other (areas marked by signage, cones or other means that restrict parking). 1st and 2nd violation: $30
3rd and 4th violation: $50
5th - 7th violation: $100 + referral to Student Rights & Responsibilities
8th violation: $250 + suspension of permit without refund + immediate removal of vehicle for remainder of year
Potential Booting/Towing in all cases.
Unauthorized Permit Transfer: Display of Altered or Counterfeit Permit. $250 + referral to Student Rights & Responsibilities + revocation of parking privileges for remainder of year
Potential Booting/Towing in all cases.
Immobilization Devices: Removal Fee (if used instead of towing the vehicle); Damage Fee. Removal: $50
Damage: $100 + cost of device repair/replacement
Towing and Storage (all infractions are subject to towing). Vehicle tow cannot be appealed. Towing company sets the fees, and charges are incurred once the company is contacted. Fees are the registrant's responsibility, and cash is required.
Multiple Violations. Campus Safety reserves the right to complete multiple violations if deemed appropriate.
Change in a Registered Vehicle. If a student has a replacement vehicle that is not temporary, it is their responsibility to inform Campus Safety. Campus Safety will contact the student about additional action that is required.
Vehicle Registration Cancellation. Cancellation requests will be granted, and a prorated credit will be placed in the student's account; the student and vehicle will be classed "unregistered for the remainder of the year.

Appeals

Appeals are only accepted until  May 3. All violations received on or after May 1 will automatically be billed to the student account. Warnings are no-fine and cannot be appealed. 

Violations must be appealed within three (3) days of the occurrence and must be completed by the registrant. Appeals are reviewed by the Parking Appeals Review Committee (PARC) and are independent of Campus Safety. PARC consists of three students and two employees. Decisions are final. Responses to all appeals are sent via email.

When completing the online appeal, please refrain from including any identifying information to ensure a fair and impartial review of the appeal. 

Appeals based solely on the following will be denied (this is not a comprehensive list):

  • Failure to understand a regulation
  • Lacking knowledge of parking regulations
  • Disagreement with a regulation
  • Other vehicles committed the same offense and didn't receive a citation
  • Late to class, late to work, late for an appointment
  • Parking illegally was only for a few minutes
  • Not having the financial means to pay the citation
  • Using vehicle flashers when parking illegally
  • Lack of parking spaces in a specific campus area
  • Vehicle mechanical problems
  • Inclement weather conditions
  • Having an emergency
