Gain behind-the-scenes access to working in the entertainment industry during this immersive two-week program in Los Angeles: May 31-June 13. Alongside rising Kenyon juniors and seniors, you will get screenwriting experience and network with industry professionals who share a Kenyon connection.
The program is split between the classroom and the city. Days start with an intensive screenwriting course led by Thomas S. Turgeon Professor of Drama and Film Jonathan Tazewell ’84. The afternoons and evenings are for exploring Los Angeles and making professional connections, with activities ranging from job shadows and studio tours to panel discussions and one-on-one mentoring conversations.
You will leave Los Angeles with a refined creative project for your portfolio, enhanced professional skills, and connections that will extend well beyond the two-week program.
Screenwriting and Script Development
In this intensive, two-week course, you will conceive, develop and write an original screenplay for a short film or television pilot. At the end of the program, one scene from your screenplay will be performed as a staged reading by professional actors — an opportunity to hear your work out loud and experience the collaborative nature of the medium.
