The Kenyon Parents Council (KPC) gathered on Saturday, March 28, for a full day of meetings and programming on the Kenyon campus.
Members began with a general session covering KPC business, updates from KPC chairs and committee chairs, member introductions, and reports on the Parents Fund and career development. The morning continued with a presidential update from President Julie Kornfeld, members of her cabinet and senior staff, a spotlight by Associate Professor of English Pashmina Murthy on the academic and interdisciplinary themes of Kenyon Keys, and a presentation by Vice President for Advancement Keith DiDonato on cross-campus partnerships with the Office of Admissions and the Generosity Project, and funding opportunities, including an update on the Third Century Founders initiative to grow the College's endowment.
Members then broke into focus group discussions on three topics: the Kenyon City Program led by Wendy Singer, career exploration led by Lee Schott, and first- and second-year Orientation and the Sophomore Experience led by Brian Janssen and Don Miller. The meetings ended by acknowledging outgoing chairs Becky and Grant Tolson P'26 and announcing Vicky and Jim Bratton P'27 as next year's KPC chairs. The day prior to the meetings, several KPC members joined the Career Development Office for a mentoring session and networking event with current students.
