- Click on attachments at the bottom of the form, this is where the course descriptions are located.
- Click on the three spots on the right side of the Attachments listing. If you hover on it,
it will say Edit, you need to click on the three spots and click View. - This will download the attachment to your downloads folder where you can open the document to review the course descriptions.
- Once you have reviewed the course descriptions, you will mark in the column reserved for the Department Chair as to how the course will count, if applicable, for the major. If the course is equivalent to one of our courses, please list that. If the course can count for a particular requirement in the major, list the attribute code. Please refer to the list of attributes sent to you by Ellen Harbourt. If a course will NOT count towards the major, enter N/A.
- You will not add the dept in the next column or checkmark approve, that is for our office use only. The registrar’s office has the final say on whether or not a course will transfer to Kenyon.
- If you need additional information from the student, please click on Return at the bottom of the form and choose the arrow by the student’s name that is listed in the Start position. You will then need to email the student with the request for information.
- If you have additional information that you want to provide for our office or to the student, you can type whatever you need in the Notes section at the bottom of the form.
-
1. Once completed, click Approve and the form will continue through the workflow.
Please note: If you decline a form instead of returning it, it goes into outer space and we no longer have access to it.
SOME CONSIDERATIONS WHEN REVIEWING TRANSFER COURSE FOR THE MAJOR
-
Our credit guideline for a course to satisfy a course requirement (0.50 unit/4 semester hour) is 2.64 semester hours. That allows a 4-quarter hour course to count.
-
If your program/major limits transfer credit for the major, be clear in the notes section of the form about that limit—e.g. The department allows two courses from a semester of OCS to count toward the major.
-
We have asked the students to note how they want the credit to count on the form. If you don’t know what requirements the student would like the course to count toward, contact the student.
-
Use the attributes emailed to you from Ellen Harbourt to complete what major requirement the course will count toward—it may be more than one.
-
Most importantly, check the student’s transcript or degree evaluation—have they completed an equivalent course at Kenyon?
