12 p.m. Philander Chase Conservancy Career Panel

The Philander Chase Conservancy (PCC) will host a career panel featuring three Kenyon alumni working in environmental fields across the United States: Madeline Bright ’11, executive director of Earth Sangha; Neala Kendall ’01, research scientist with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife; and Sascha Lodge ’07, terrestrial invasive species program coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Envisioned and organized by current PCC student interns, this event aims to help Kenyon ENVS students connect with alumni in their field of study and gain valuable insights, advice and encouragement as they navigate their own career journeys. This event is sponsored by PCC, the ENVS Department, the Philip and Sheila Jordan Fund, the Career Development Office and the Kenyon Campus Community Development Fund. Peirce Pub, Peirce Hall

Returning alumni and current students are invited to connect at a Homecoming networking reception hosted by the Career Development Office. This is an opportunity to build new connections, share career experiences, discuss industry trends, and exchange insights about career paths. Hors d'oeuvres, beer and wine (for guests 21+ with a valid ID), and nonalcoholic beverages will be served. 10 a.m. Machines and Meaning: Hands-On at the Edge of AI

Spend the first half of this session working directly with frontier AI systems (no technical background required) to see what today's models can and can't do. In the second half, we’ll step back to ask the harder questions: What is coming and how does humane studies help us make sense of it?

Return to the seminar table for a close reading of Plato with Professor Lisa Leibowitz. Together we'll take up a few short passages and think through what Plato has to say about human flourishing.
