Sondra Bell received her doctorate in trombone performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory. She has taught at Pikes Peak Community College, Gustavus Adolphus College, University of Southern Colorado, Adams State College, the University of Dayton, and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Her professional experience includes performances with the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs, Colorado Springs Philharmonic, the Colorado Symphony, Aspen Choral Society, Colorado Opera Festival, Chautauqua Music Festival, Cuchara Music Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival. As a soloist, she was a prize winner at the 2010 International Women’s Brass Conference Solo Competition, has toured the U.S. with the German-based brass ensemble, Eurobrass; and has toured China twice with the MasterWorks Festival giving recitals, master classes, and performing with the Hunan Symphony.

Most recently, Bell was invited to perform with the International Women’s Trombone Choir debut performance at the International Trombone Festival in July 2021 and 2023. Bell has hosted The Colorado Trombone Festival since 2013.

This course is open to brass players qualified to perform chamber music. An audition may be required. The class explores all periods of music with emphasis on style, technique and ensemble blending. An end-of-semester performance is required. Permission of instructor required.
