Brian W. Janssen joined Kenyon after serving as director of student organizations and leadership development at Portland State University. He has spent much of his career focusing on creating campus environments that promote a sense of belonging and equitable leadership opportunities for students. In addition to holding leadership roles in student affairs, Janssen has been a faculty member and faculty athletics representative. 

Janssen holds a doctorate in educational policy and leadership, a master’s in college student personnel and a bachelor’s in history. He has taught education and leadership courses at several institutions, and draws on his experience in and out of the classroom to forge relationships between academic and student affairs. 

Brian and his partner, Jenny, enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors with their dog, Mr. Wilson.
