K-Bikes

K-Bikes, the Kenyon Bike Barn, is a bicycle co-op where students and community members can get a bike, repair a bike, learn how to fix a bike, volunteer or just say hi!

The Bike Barn is a 2,000 sq. ft. facility nestled in Gambier at 100 Quarry Chapel Road. Open hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4 - 6 p.m.

Bicycle Regulations

The Office of Campus Safety provides information about bicycle registration, storage, what to do if a bike is missing or stolen, and also cyclist safety guidelines.

Bicycle Self Registration: You will need to get a K-Bike bike decal at Campus Safety in Gund Commons and your student or employee #, bike make, model, registration#, color to complete the registration. Your registration will be valid until your graduate or employment is terminated and there is no fee. It is also suggested that you keep photos of your bike, record your serial number, use a heavy duty lock (or two), and wear safety equipment.

K-Bikes has the tools and the know-how to provide basic bike repair services. They stock basic bike parts like tubes, chains, etc., and can order parts from special suppliers at discounted rates. They also offer lessons to help you maintain your own bike.

For payments, K-Bikes can accept cash and checks payable to Kenyon College. They are working toward a K-Card payment system.

K-Bikes also relies on the generosity of the community to continue to offer services and programs.

Do you have a usable or fixable adult bicycle that you no longer use or need? Visit the Bike Barn during open hours to re-home a bike and give it a second lease on life! K-Bikes accept donations any time during open hours. Please do not leave donations outside of the Bike Barn when it is closed. Leaving parts or bicycles during off-hours is considered illegal dumping.

Cash or check monetary donations cover the cost of new parts, new tools, bike refurbishing and community programs.

K-Bikes runs on volunteer power. No experience is needed, just a great attitude! Volunteers go through an orientation and then are placed into bike barn volunteer jobs that best match their interests. Volunteering is a great way to work into a Bike Manager student worker position.

The K-Bikes team works to clean and repair donated bicycles to sell to students and the community. Matching you with the right bike is key to being a happy rider.
