At this week’s session, students will begin reading and discussing, "Shirley Chisholm: Champion of Black Feminist Power Politics" by Anastasia C. Curwood (University of North Carolina Press, 2023). They will also view, “Chisholm '72,” an hour-long documentary about Shirley Chisholm's historic campaign for president. Shirley Chisholm was the Commencement speaker at Kenyon's 1973 graduation, which included the first class of graduating women. Classroom visitors are welcome to come, watch and/or discuss Shirley Chisholm and women in the civil rights era for the entire class period or for portions of it. Oden Hall 200
