Every year, the campus community celebrates cross-cultural understanding and international education and exchange as part of Global Engagement Week. A slate of events, coordinated by the Center for Global Engagement, will take place this year from Oct. 20-24.

“While Kenyon may be located in rural Ohio, we are part of an intricate and globally connected web,” said Marne Ausec, dean of global engagement. “We operate in the global context, and Global Engagement week is just one example of how we celebrate these connections.”

Things kick off Monday at 11 a.m. with a prize-filled “Fun with Flags” event in the atrium in Peirce Hall testing participants’ knowledge of world flags. It will be followed by an evening of baking and tasting baklava at 5 p.m. with the Eastern European Club and Middle East Student Association at Hoehn-Saric House.

Other planned programs over the course of the week involve discussions about off-campus study, international fellowships and much more. These globally-minded activities are open to all; a full schedule can be found online.

Faculty, staff and students are constantly active on an international scale, whether that means studying or interning abroad, traveling to pursue important research projects, or taking part in prestigious exchange programs like the Fulbright fellowships and Peace Corps. Here are a few highlights of their work and accomplishments from the past year.
