Kenyon offers at least four languages that directly relate to Jewish studies. In particular, Russian, German, Arabic and Spanish. Students who wish to take Hebrew currently do so through summer programs listed below.
Hebrew Language Placement Test
Students wishing to test out of Kenyon’s language requirement with Hebrew should first contact the chair of Modern Languages and Literatures (MLL). The chair of MLL will connect the student with Ohio State University's Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, which provides a Hebrew test that students can take on their own computer. Tests are proctored in the Registrar’s Office, and the results are sent to the chair of MLL.
The test covers Brandeis Modern Hebrew, and involves multiple choice questions spanning the book’s vocabulary and grammar, as well as a listening component. Students will not be required to type in Hebrew.
