The Center for the Study of American Democracy welcomes Fred Guttenberg, author of “American Carnage: Shattering the Myths That Fuel Gun Violence” and “Find The Helpers,” and Joe Walsh, former Illinois Congressman and creator of “The Social Contract with Joe Walsh” podcast (Substack).

For years, Guttenberg, the father of Jaime Guttenberg, one of the victims of the Parkland high school shooting, and Walsh, who was a Tea Party Republican and avid gun rights advocate, had a very open and acrimonious debate on social media regarding gun violence and gun control. After they finally met in person, they found common ground in the defense of democracy, launching their “Two Dads Defending Democracy Tour” prior to the 2024 election. They are back on the road again this fall, with Kenyon as one of their stops.
