This fall, the Gabriel Alegría Afro-Peruvian Sextet brings 20 years of musical exploration to stages across the U.S. Drawing from nine albums of original music, the sextet creates a thrilling dialogue between Afro-Peruvian rhythms and jazz improvisation.
Expect infectious grooves, intricate polyrhythms, soaring trumpet, soulful saxophone, deep bass, criollo guitar work, and the explosive percussion of Peru. Traditional rhythms such as festejo, landó, valse and zamacueca are expressed through the harmonic language and spontaneous energy of jazz, creating music that is both deeply rooted and constantly in motion.
From Lima With Love is more than a concert — it’s a musical journey through the sounds of Peru, shaped by two decades of collaboration, discovery, and joyful improvisation. Come ready to move, listen, and experience the vibrant pulse of Afro-Peruvian jazz music!
