The Kenyon College Symphonic Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Professor Dane Heuchemer, and the Kenyon Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Professor Ted Buehrer will give a Family Weekend Concert on Saturday, October 18, at 2 p.m. in Rosse Hall Auditorium. The jazz ensemble will feature swinging jazz by Duke Ellington and Sammy Nestico, the Latin-infused "Mambo Over the Mountain" (Rick Hirsch) and "Coisa numero 1" (Moacir Santos), and the Huntertones' "Disco Tent."
The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will feature junior music major Elijah Lisboa in his conducting debut, directing Vaughan Williams' "Flourish for Wind Band." The ensemble will also be performing Daniel Bukvich's "Hymn of St. Francis" and a number of movements from Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana."
The concert is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the Stroud Lobby.
