Music major Patrick Corcoran will present his senior capstone conducting recital of seven unaccompanied works across a few different styles. The centerpiece of the program is "The Coolin" by Samuel Barber (also a native of West Chester, Pennsylvania). "The Coolin" is from a set of madrigals called "Reincarnations," which all borrow text from the poetry of James Stephens. Five of the seven pieces play with the idea of musical reincarnation — Burleigh's "My Lord, What a Mornin'" undoubtedly influenced Hogan and by proxy "Abide With Me"; Stanford was Holst's composition teacher; "The Coolin" itself bares resemblances to the late renaissance motets Barber studied extensively at the Curtis Institute of Music.

Patrick is a music major and history minor from West Chester, Pennsylvania. He is also the current director of Männerchor and likes to read.
