Kenyon welcomes Stacy “Jukeboxx” Letrice '09, who will lead a free dance workshop in the Woodward Recital Hall in downtown Mount Vernon during Homecoming Weekend.

The Rhythm and Roots Line Dance Workshop offers an engaging and rhythmic exploration of traditional and contemporary line dances rooted in Black cultural heritage. Participants will learn a variety of line dances that celebrate the rich history and vibrant spirit of Black communities, from classic steps to modern grooves. The class emphasizes fun, community and cultural connection, providing a welcoming space to move, groove, and connect with the dynamic rhythms and traditions of Black dance.

All ages and levels of experience welcome! Please join us in the recital hall on the second floor of the Woodward Opera House, located at 107 South Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon.

Stacy “Jukeboxx” Letrice is a dancer, choreographer, instructor, mas band leader and dance/movement therapist with over 20-years of local and global experience. In 2017, she was crowned Minnesota’s official Dancehall Queen after competing amongst other contestants from NYC, Europe, and the Midwest. Her passion for Dancehall, Afrobeats, Soca and traditional West African dance has opened doors for her to perform with artists such as Cardi B, Busta Rhymes, Les Twins, Elephant Man, Serani and more. In 2015, her work as a dancer and dance/movement therapist led her to create her own dance brand, Jukeboxx Dance LLC, dedicated to helping others pursue happiness and healing through African and Caribbean dance forms. When asked why she dances, Stacy always replies, “I know there is a God because I feel him when I dance."

Sponsored by the Woodward Opera House, the Office for Community Partnerships and the Kenyon College Dance Enrichment Fund.
