
John Yau is a poet, art critic, fiction writer and publisher whose recent books include "Diary of Small Discontents: New & Selected Poems 1974–2024," "Tell it Slant," "Genghis Chan on Drums" and "Please Wait by the Coat Room: Reconsidering Race and Identity in American Art." He also founded Black Square Editions. John has received awards and fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, National Endowment of the Arts, Academy of American Poets, an American Book Award, among others.
Yau is professor emeritus at Rutgers University and lives in Beacon, New York.
