For this week’s colloquium, we will hear from two post-baccalaureate researchers, Wyatt Phillips and Eve Currens, about the work they’ve been doing over the past semester.

Eve will talk about her research with Professor Tom Giblin studying the dynamics of the early universe through numerical simulations. She will present the first simulations showing the formation of primordial black holes from cosmological processes and how these simulations were developed.

Wyatt will talk about his work with Professor Madeline Wade on calibration for the LIGO gravitational wave detectors and the process of converting raw data into strain. He will discuss the overall process and importance of good calibration and focus on his work on creating a low-latency calibration pipeline.

Join us on Friday, Nov. 7, for this exciting special presentation from Wyatt and Eve. Lunch will be available in Hayes 216 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and the presentation will begin in Hayes 211/213 at 12:10 p.m. We hope to see you there!
