John A. Woollam is an entrepreneur, physicist, electrical engineer by profession, the George Holmes Distinguished Professor at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska, and the founder of J.A. Woollam Co., Inc., a world leader in spectroscopic ellipsometeric instruments. A native of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Woollam received a B.A. from Kenyon College in 1961. During the colloquium, Woollam will share how his upbringing led to careers in physics, engineering, teaching, business, job creation and philanthropy in conservation and education.
