Interested in using your mathematical and statistical knowledge to solve current, real-world problems? Learn about open-ended mathematical and statistical problems posed by local partner organizations, including the Knox Department of Public Health, the Knox Area Development Foundation, and the Mount Vernon Law Director’s Office.
We’ll be exploring these problems in our new spring offering, the "Kenyon Applied Math and Stats Analytics and Modeling Partnership" (MATH/STAT 391). In this class, you’ll work in faculty-guided teams to apply your mathematical and statistical knowledge to these problems. At the end of the semester, you’ll present your findings and recommendations in written and oral form to your respective organization.
In this session, we’ll present some of the interesting questions that our local partners have posed. We’ll also describe class structure, interactions with partners, and what kinds of knowledge will be useful. There will be plenty of time to get all your questions answered.
Everyone interested in learning about real-world mathematical and statistical applications is welcome to attend, even if MATH/STAT 391 won’t work in your schedule. Join us on Monday, Oct. 5, at 3:10 p.m. in Hayes 109. We hope to see you there!
