Kenyon will celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. with a series of events connecting his legacy to current issues that affect the campus and the world.
Please note that Kenyon classes will operate on an adjusted schedule on Jan. 19.
Commemorative Breakfast
The annual Knox County Commemorative Breakfast, hosted this year by Mount Vernon Nazarene University, will feature a guest speaker Ronald C. Todd from the Ohio Department of Development and remarks by local mayors, Matt Starr of Mount Vernon and Leeman Kessler of Gambier, Kenyon president Julie Kornfeld and MVNU president Carson Castleman.
Afternoon Program at Kenyon
An afternoon program will take place in Rosse Hall from 3 - 4 p.m. and will include a keynote address by Patrick D. Jones '93, associate professor of history and ethnic studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, who will discuss "MLK, Fugitivity, and Creative Resistance in Troubled Times." There will also be remarks from President Julie Kornfeld, musical performances by the Chamber Singers and POCapella, and breakout sessions.
Breakout Sessions
Faculty- and student-led discussions will take place from 4 - 5 p.m. in Chalmers Library, facilitated by John Rufo, assistant professor of American studies, A.F. Oehmke, assistant professor of art, and Orchid Tierney, the William P. Rice Associate Professor of Literature.
