All alumni, parents and friends of Kenyon are invited to attend the next virtual book club, organized by the Pittsburgh Regional Association. At this meeting of the book club the group will discuss New York Times Bestseller, "In the Heart of the Sea" by Nathaniel Philbrick.

In 1820, the whaleship Essex was rammed and sunk by an angry sperm whale in the South Pacific, leaving the desperate crew to drift for more than 90 days in three tiny boats. Philbrick uses little-known documents (including a long-lost account written by the ship's cabin boy) and vivid details about the Nantucket whaling tradition to reveal the chilling facts of this infamous maritime disaster.

Sound familiar? The whaleship Essex is also a famous source of inspiration for Herman Melville's classic novel "Moby Dick."
