The Department of Dance, Drama and Film welcomes guest artist Carlos Funn, a visual protagonist and provocateur who assembles "socially conscious cabarets."

This Afro House dance class will provide a container to bridge the sonic and movement landscape of traditional West African dance and the merging of the electronic age. We will MAO (Move As One) to understand that our joys serve as our center and our sacred ground.

Funn is a dancer, drummer, photographer and film artist from Richmond, Virginia, who received his MFA in screen dance from the University of Michigan and a BFA in dance and choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Funn's current work involves multidisciplinary experiments centered around dance, film, sound installation and animation. Funn has taught throughout the U.S. and Japan. Most recently, Funn has served as a guest artist in residence at the University of Maryland College Park and Western Michigan University and at Denison University where he currently teaches "Dance for Camera" and "West African Dance."

This even is sponsored by the Dance Enrichment Fund.
