Part of the college experience is finding a home away from home. In Kenyon's fully residential community, students find "second homes" on campus outside of their dorm or apartment where they gather around interests and people that matter to them. For some, it's an artistic space like a gallery, theater or studio. For others, their second home is where they practice and compete in their collegiate sport. It may be the home of an organization of which they are a part, a favorite study spot, or a lab connected to their major. In any case, the second homes of Kenyon are treasured spaces that add meaning to the Kenyon experience.
Second Homes - Tennis Courts
Tennis players come from all over the country and the world to compete as part of Kenyon's NCAA Division III team, which has won three NCAA team titles, four individual championships in singles and doubles play, and 22 NCAC titles. But more than the wins, players will tell you it's the community they find on the court that is most meaningful: the coaches, their teammates, the time they spend together. Second Homes - Kenyon Collegian
Established in 1856, The Kenyon Collegian is one of the oldest student newspapers in the country, staking its journalistic flag in the ground nearly two decades before The Harvard Crimson (1873) and The Yale Daily News (1878). For generations of Kenyon students who've gone on to careers in journalism and communications, the Collegian is where they got their start and earned their stripes. It's where they found their second home on campus. And where countless student bands formed and student artists found their voice and their second home on campus.
Tucked inside a former chapel, The Horn Gallery (@horngallery6708) is a student-run performance space that hosts art exhibitions, open mics, and what it’s most known and loved for: late-night concerts that spill into memory and myth.
