Join the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Unity House, the Crozier Center for Women and our student organization co-sponsors for an event in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance/Resilience (TDOR/R), an annual observance on Nov. 20 that honors the memory of the transgender people whose lives were lost in acts of anti-transgender violence.

This year, Kenyon welcomes Felix Tunador (he/him). Tunador is the re-entry program manager for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. He will discuss his experiences supporting transgender people who were formerly or are currently incarcerated.

To access the event, please register anytime before the event begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18.

Content Warning: Please note that this program will discuss transphobic violence and transphobic/cissexist discrimination, in addition to racialized and gender-based violence. This program will also discuss state-sponsored and societal violence that is specifically related to the prison industrial complex.

In addition to the annual lecture, there will be a vigil on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 10:15 p.m. in the Unity-Snowden courtyard. Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend and to remember and honor the lives lost to transphobic violence. Both electronic candles and tissues will be available to those in attendance.
