Please welcome Margaret Huettl, a descendant of Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibweg, Assyrian refugees and European settlers, is the director of Indigenous studies and an assistant professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She is a scholar of Native American history and North American Wests, and her research examines the continuities of Ojibwe sovereignty in the context of settler colonialism in both the United States and Canada, centering Ojibwe ways of knowing. Huettl's talk will engage how scholars conceptualize histories of the North American West and address in part her collaboration with Gameloft in revising the famous/infamous "The Oregon Trail" video game.

This event is co-sponsored by Art History, History, the Center for the Study of American Democracy and the Integrated Program in Humane Studies.
