Summer is a great time to connect with your colleagues and learn about teaching and learning! Check out our summer offerings for workshops and book clubs.
The CIP is pleased to invite you to a hands-on workshop led by Visiting Assistant Professor of Film Phil Garrett looking at various educational opportunities created by digital storytelling and narrative. Over the course of the four-day workshop, participants will explore multimedia narratives, discuss their own interests and goals for digital storytelling proje
The workshop will run June 4 - 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an optional day June 8 for polishing projects or designing course activities.
This workshop is supported by a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The CIP will offer a Course Design Institute June 11 - 13 to provide faculty with a supportive, collegial atmosphere for designing new courses and making improvements to existing ones. Faculty will have the chance to discuss emerging trends in higher education, exchange ideas with colleagues from across the college, and collaborate on new activities and course materials.
The all-day sessions will take faculty through a “backward design” process that integrates course goals with assessment strategies and instructional methods.
The Course Design Institute will provide structured time for individual work as well as group sessions, and CIP staff will be available for pedagogical or technological consultation as needed.
Register for the Course Design Institute at goo.gl/forms/uTNtc87a56xx0Y2S2.
How does online communication affect you as a faculty member? What would you do with a blog, a Twitter account, a course website, or an online scholarly project? DigPINS is an exploration of your Digital Pedagogy, Identity, Networking, and Scholarship! This primarily online workshop will introduce a few popular online tools, as well as some critical readings to help inform your decisions about how and whether to use those tools. We expect DigPINS to take about 3-5 hours a week, in a mix of online meetings and work on your own. This workshop is being offered in partnership with a DigPINS cohort at St. Norbert College.
