On Tuesday, October 16, Kenyon College hosted David Berman for a Day of Universal eAccessible Design. Berman has over 30 years of experience in inclusive design. He believes we can include everyone, without trade offs. In addition to his Common Hour talk, Berman participated in a Q & A with faculty and staff over lunch and held a training session on eAccessible technologies.
On Thursday, October 12, 2017, the Kenyon College Center for Innovative Pedagogy hosted David Brobeck P’02, Associate Professor of Graduate Education at Walsh University. The Common Hour session, titled “Cognitive Style and Group Work” introduced participants to the basics of Emergenetics--a personal profile based on four thinking attributes and three behavioral attributes emerging from both our life experiences and genetic traits--and its potential effects on student group dynamics and group work.
Supported through the President's office and a grant to Kenyon from the Consortium on High Achievement and Success, Kenyon hosted Becky Wai-Ling Packard, Professor of Psychology and Education and Director of the Weissman Center for Leadership at Mount Holyoke College, and author of Successful STEM Mentoring Initiatives for Underrepresented Students, for a lecture at Common Hour on September 7th, 2017, titled “Inclusive Pedagogy: What We Know And Need To Know.”
