Kenyon College continues the tradition, practiced since the College’s first Commencement ceremony, of conferring degrees in Latin. An English translation of the Latin diploma, certified by Professor of Classics Adam Serfass, is as follows:

in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio

and has conferred on [this individual] all the rights and privileges that appertain to this degree.
