If necessary, students with a home address outside of the continental United States may be granted permission to remain in residence through the end of the fall semester, departing by noon ET on Dec. 19. Please email email@example.com no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, to make those arrangements. Please note that students may not depart for the Thanksgiving holiday and then return for the remainder of the semester, and no travel outside of Knox County is permitted before the end of the semester. All students remaining will be required to completely vacate their current residence and move into a new, temporary location.
If you wish to remain on campus for the entirety of winter break (Nov. 25 through the end of January), please make note of the following before you submit your request. Petitions must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9.
There are limited housing options available for the winter break; you must be a student in residence for both the fall and spring semesters to be eligible for break housing.
All students will need to pack all belongings and take them to their temporary assignment or have them managed at personal expense even if they anticipate moving into the same housing assignment in the spring.
Students approved to remain in residence over the winter break are not permitted to travel. Those who travel will forfeit their housing, requiring that they secure housing elsewhere (at their own expense) until the residences reopen for the spring semester and COVID testing resumes.
Meal service will be limited during the winter break. Students will receive one hot meal per day (lunch Monday through Friday) and a grocery box each week. During the weeks of Nov. 22-28 and Dec. 20 - Jan. 2, services will be further limited due to College holidays.
Other services over the break also will be limited. The Lowry Center will have reduced hours (please consult your email and website for updates). The Cox Health and Counseling Center is closed from Dec. 19, 2020, through Jan. 10, 2021, and upon reopening will have limited availability for appointments until the spring semester begins.
If you are a first-year student and wish to petition to be in residence for the spring semester, you may submit a petition. Please keep in mind that space is highly limited, and therefore only students with highly compelling situations may be considered. Petitions must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9.
Upperclass students who wish to study remotely should complete the remote study request form by Nov. 29.
Leaves of Absence
While there is no deadline at Kenyon for requesting a leave of absence for a semester, we ask that students who wish to take time off submit a declaration of leave form by Nov. 29.
Note: Some forms require a Kenyon login to access.
