Kenyon launched a new Web site in June 2008 to capture the vitality of the College while providing abundant information which users can navigate and search with greater ease. The debut of the redesigned site marked the culmination of a year-long effort involving the entire campus community along with alumni, parents, and prospective students.
Designed by White Whale Web Services of Oakland, California, the new site features a homepage "photomosaic wall" of 27 clickable images, which serve as both a visual metaphor and set of entry points into the multifaceted Kenyon experience. White Whale also overhauled the site navigation structure and developed quick-access tools for a number of Web pages.
About the Photo Wall
We created this photo wall with White Whale Web Services as part of the Kenyon Web redesign in 2008. Often, the wall appears as a mosaic of images. Sometimes we use it to showcase just one, two, or three photos that go with a special feature. It's impossible, of course, to tell Kenyon's story in a single picture, or even an array of pictures. But we think the photo wall can suggest the diversity of people, places, activities, and ideas that shape the Kenyon experience. We encourage you to click on an image, explore, and get a taste of what makes Kenyon so distinctive. New images are added regularly, so check back often.
Submit a Photo
Students: Have you photographed a great Kenyon moment? Send it to photowall@kenyon.edu along with a brief description explaining the significance of the photo. We would like to include more video and audio clips this year, so if your photo has a multimedia companion piece, please let us know. We also have a flip camera available for check-out if you would like to record a student event. If your photo submission is selected for the "wall," you'll earn a gift certificate for the Middle Ground Café (limit one per semester). Photos should be color, high-resolution shots (photos taken with a cell phone usually won't work). If submitting a horizontal image, please keep in mind that accepted images will be cropped into a square.
