Stourhead, Wiltshire (near Bath)

This is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved examples of the "English landscape style" from the 18th century. It features a two-mile circuit walk of the garden, allowing the walker to encounter and contemplate a grotto, several imitations of Roman temples, and woodlands. The house, designed by Colen Campbell in 1721, is an example of the Palladian style of architecture.
