Black History in Verse

Poet Allison Joseph '88 visits Kenyon on Saturday, February 23, to help celebrate Black History Month and join a shared reading of "Poets and Writers of the African and African American Diaspora" at 5:00 p.m. in the Cheever Room at the Finn House.
Faculty, staff and students will read selections from favorite writers during the free event, and Joseph will read from her own work. She is the author of six poetry collections, including the 2010 book My Father's Kites: Poems. Joseph is an associate professor of English at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), where she founded and directs the Young Writers Workshop at SIUC. She is also a founding editor of Crab Orchard Review and is the magazine's poetry editor and editor-in-chief.
This reading is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Greenslade Special Collections and Archives at Olin Library.
