Kenyon's Future
GAMBIER, Ohio (June 14, 2012)Kenyon's decision to establish a partnership with Sodexo to manage the buildings and grounds operations has sparked considerable dialogue on the campus and in the realm of social media.
President S. Georgia Nugent and Barry F. Schwartz, chairman of the College Board of Trustees, have scheduled a forum for more conversation on the subject at the Bolton Theater from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All alumni, current administrators, staff, and faculty members, as well as students, are invited to join the conversation, which will be streamed live on the Internet.
After careful consideration, the College decided to seek an outside vendor to provide contemporary work-flow, quality-control, and inventory-control systems as well as systematic capital planning in order to improve efficiency and create savings. The College is helping some Kenyon employees make a transition to employment with Sodexo. The College has also entered negotiations with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (UE) Local 712, which represents twenty-three skilled trades workers, to ensure a smooth transition to Sodexo management.
