GAMBIER, Ohio (April 19, 2012)

Climate-change expert Robert K. Musil will discuss the relevance of Earth Day in a talk on Wednesday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m.

Musil is the former executive director and CEO of Physicians for Social Responsibility, which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985. He is also the former producer and host of the syndicated radio program Consider the Alternatives, a producer of video documentaries, and the author of Hope for a Heated Planet: How Americans are Fighting Global Warming and Building a Better Future. He is an adjunct professor at the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies in the School of Public Affairs at American University.

His talk on Wednesday is called "Does Earth Day Matter?" and will be held in the Higley Hall auditorium. Musil will also a host a conversation about climate change and energy policy on Thursday, April 26, at 11:10 a.m., at Hayes Hall (room 109. Both talks are free and the public is encouraged to attend.

"The depth and breadth of his experience is exceptional and it sounds to me as if he wants to listen as well as speak. That is a rare opportunity," said Robert A. Mauck, associate professor of biology.

Musil's appearance is part of the Edgerton Lectureship series that brings visiting scholars to Kenyon to address energy issues in a public lecture for a general audience, and to provide opportunities for interaction with students, faculty and community members.
