The Buzz at Kenyon
GAMBIER, Ohio (December 5, 2011)Friday Night Lights author H.G. "Buzz" Bissinger visits Kenyon on Thursday to discuss "Sports in Academia: Why?"
Bissinger's lecture and a discussion that follows take place at 8:00 p.m. in Rosse Hall.
In addition to Friday Night Lights, which launched a feature film and a television series by the same name, Bissinger has written the non-fiction books A Prayer for the City, 3 Nights in August, and Shooting Stars, which was co-written with LeBron James.
His journalism career has included work at the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Chicago Tribune and the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he and two colleagues won a Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for a six-part investigative series on the Philadelphia court system. His stories have also appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Sports Illustrated and Vanity Fair, where he is a contributing editor. Bissinger has also done teleplay and screenwriting work and was a writer for the television series NYPD Blue.
