Family Affair

Kenyon welcomes parents into classrooms on Friday and so begins a Family Weekend that will draw about a thousand moms, dads, sisters, and brothers to Gambier.
The line-up of activities and events ranges from the Kenyon Symphonic Wind Ensemble in concert to horse-drawn carriage rides, from a lecture on science fiction to the main-stage production of Spunk: Three Tales, and from a "town meeting" with President S. Georgia Nugent to a Lords football tilt versus Wittenberg.
The weekend is a College showcase and frames life at Kenyon, said Bethanne Fowler, director of campus events. "It's important because it brings the families back. It gives them a chance to attend classes, have a meal in the servery, and experience a little of campus life," she said. "Younger siblings can check out the College, and alumni who have students here come back."
The College puts its many assets on display with the Brown Family Environmental Center harvest festival, open houses at the Craft Center and Miller Observatory, and open hours at the Kenyon Athletic Center. View the complete schedule.
