Rubin on Rights

GAMBIER, Ohio (September 14, 2011)

Robert Rubin, civil rights attorney, will discuss "Civil Rights in the Post-Obama Era" on Thursday, September 22, at 8:00 p.m.

Rubin will speak in Olin Library auditorium. Rubin is an adjunct professor at the University of California School of Law and the legal director for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of San Francisco, where he works on class-action litigation for voting rights, race, education, immigration and economic opportunity.

"Rubin has constantly sought to provide a voice for the misrepresented, the disenfranchised, and the homeless," said Peter Rutkoff, professor of American studies. "He has special affection for Ohio where, in the last two presidential elections, he has worked to ensure open access to voting rights."

Rubin's appearance is sponsored by the Department of Political Science and the Program for American Studies.
