Kathleen Tipler came to Kenyon in 2011. She is the Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for the Study of American Democracy and teaches Quest for Justice in Political Science. Tipler enjoys teaching the history of political thought, as well as courses in constitutional law and American politics. Her research is concerned with the relation between institutional design and political judgment. Using resources in philosophy, constitutional analysis, and political psychology, as well as case studies of contemporary institutions, her work addresses the question of how governing institutions foster political judgment. She also has an interest in immigration law and policy.
