Education in Orbit

Kenyon Professor of Biology Joan Slonczewski launches The Highest Frontier, her new science fiction novel, on Tuesday, September 13, at 7:00 p.m. at the College Bookstore.
Slonczewski will discuss The Highest Frontier (Tor Books) and sign copies of the book. The novel is based at a college that orbits the Earth, a planet altered by global warming and contending with an invasive alien species. The novel follows a first-year student as she encounters surprises and problems in outer space. Publishers Weekly said of the novel: "Unique characters, witty scientific and societal extrapolations, and a complex, mind-blowing setting make this sedately paced narrative a delightfully amusing read."
She is the author of six novels and is the co-author of the textbook Microbiology: An Evolving Science. To learn more about The Highest Frontier, visit http://highestfrontier.com.
